Summer 2024 could be very dry. How does that affect the Renfrew Community Garden?
After a conversation with the City of Calgary, this is what I learned:

We can follow the current drought conditions in Calgary here.
Interestingly, Calgary community gardens are grouped with nurseries, garden centers, turf tree farms and market gardens and are required to follow the regulations described in Schedule E of the bylaw for “Watering of plants for commercial sale”. This allows us to water our beds during any stage of watering restrictions.
However, the Renfrew Community Garden Policies & Procedure compel us to…
- Adhere to water conservation principles to minimize the waste of water under any and all circumstances.
- Ensure that the water is turned off before you leave the site.
- Be a Garden Ambassador.

- STAGE 4 – Hand-held container (ie: watering can, bucket)
